Heritage Safe
Anyone else had issues out of the mechanical lock on their Heritage Safe? A few months ago I started having issues when putting in the combination I’d have to put it in 3 or 4 times before it would open. Last night I fought with the safe for about a hour and finally got it opened out of luck by turning the dial about a half of a turn after the last number. The weird thing is nothing is loose in the lock mechanism. Here is a photo to show where the hook unlock disk is in orientation of the last number on the tumbler.

Re: Heritage Safe
Change the combination and see if the symptom persists. If that's not a make brand lock like S&G, I suggest getting one

Re: Heritage Safe
It’s a SG lock on it now. After reading a SG manual it appears that after your last number your supposed to turn it to 95 before the safe will open. For the 6 years I’ve owned the safe it’s always opened on the last number. So not sure if over time it has knocked something out of wack. I’ve narrowed it down to the secondary catch not allowing the lock to come up. I definitely need to get a new lock assembly. ThanksPDM wrote:Change the combination and see if the symptom persists. Re: Heritage Safe
Usually it's turn to the right until it stops

Yep, my dad had a Browning safe that you would rotate the dial to a certain number after the fourth stop when entering the combo. Sounds the same anyways.

Re: Heritage Safe
After trying to troubleshoot the safe I found that apparently one of the tumblers has actually moved and is off one number. Enough to cause the hook not to drop.
