Anyone here doing any 3D printing?

Doesn't fit in the other categories? Maybe just want to post up some humor or random happening? This is the place for it.

Anyone here doing any 3D printing?

Post by kokopelli » Sat Apr 18, 2020 10:50 am

I don't know squat about 3D printing, but it seems that some very usable parts can be churned out on these things... a couple I could use are a buffer tube adapter for a Ruger Charger:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3577223

and even AR pistol braces, as in this Arfcom thread:

https://www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/Retro ... 23-744656/

Anyone members here doing this kind of stuff?

I don't have or know anything about them (although I have seem some cool shit from them out there also), but the Ruger Charger with buffer tube and brace is a FREAKING BLAST!!!!! I have a Charger breakdown with a brace and it can be tiny, it weighs nothing and is accurate.

Yes!! Post up a pic or two...

My nephew got one going for me, but he forgot to program a ‘skip’ and it knocked over at the bolt hole. He’s starting a new one- but it’s going to be awesome!

I took the failed piece to see how It fit and how painting goes...

The threads are perfect, everything lines up and it’s definitely sturdy enough.

Here’s The failed piece in the white:

Believe it or not, I don't have a single pic of my current one. This is my old non-TD version. My new one is EXACTLY this, but a TD version.
Copper Customs buffer tube adapter and blade brace with a fixed 4x BSA scope. Soooooooooo much fun. I'm a tard and ordered an OD brace instead of black by mistake so I'm still rocking it on the TD model...haha Image

I’ll probably end up going all green on mine, so if I do the Shockwave I’ll get a black one and trade you...

I dont know about printing gun parts with them but we use one at work to print hard to find replacement parts for older equipment. If you can draw it (or download a blueprint) you can print it. Used it recently to print power cord holders for several older syringe pumps, printing cost was about $0.75 each vs $15 each from a parts supply.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Knowing someone who is in engineering school has its benefits...

I’m having a brace made that mimics the Colt N1-CAR stocks...

Success!!!!

Charger buffer adapter is perfect. Here it is raw. I’m going to do some fine sanding and paint it when it stops raining- will show pics...

The brace looks fantastic!! It will need sanding and painting, and some clean-up, but looks very promising.
I’ll be stealing the latch and parts from an M4 stock.
Again I’ll show the result.
