Questions for future KAC shoots
I think things for the most part went pretty smoothly Feb 7th but I'm open to opinions and suggestions for future shoots. The more we do these the more I'm learning what and what doesn't work.
I do have a few questions though
1. Saturdays or Sundays work best?
2. How often should we have one, every 4 months, every 6 month or....?
3. Do you think there is a better way to collect money for the range rental fee?

There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
I don't mind the drive down there every couple months or so. Every 3-4 months at NH seems good to me. As far as collecting the range fee, maybe designate a person who is going to be there each time to be the collector. I think a sign in sheet would be a good way to keep track of who's there and fee paid. As long as there is transparency, as far as the cash goes, it shouldn't matter who collects it. For transparency, I would just suggest a 2nd set of eyes on the collection. Not saying that bc there is any funny business, just to prevent any questions in the future if it happens to be multiple individuals handling money.

The one we had last August it was unbearably hot. My son and I didn't fire 50 rounds between us. Maybe have one in June before it gets too hot.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
I like Saturday shoots.
It's hard to split the dates up evenly and still avoid bad weather. If twice a year, September and March or October and April should work well. Maybe March - June - September and whoever wants to plan anything else can do so on their own time.
I've attended two KAC shoots. The first time I tried to pay and my money was given back. This time again, the required amount had already been collected. I'm glad to pay my share however the organizers find it easiest to collect.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
I think the temperature is key. Im ok with cold weather, but sweat my a** off in july and august. 3-4 times a year sounds reasonable. As for range fees, maybe when you pay you receive a name tag and sign in. You can change name tag or ink colors each meet. No name tag, no shooting . Hope this helps

I think all that show up should pay a fee. Whether it's $5 or $10. Anything collected over the range rental fee maybe be donated back to kac.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
I agree with swede, May or June. But really I'm down whenever...haha Definitely more often than 6 months. I would gladly make it at least every 3 or 4 months. I think having them a little more often may give some of the people a better chance of making one. Having one every 3 months may give some of the folks with harder to accommodate schedules a chance to make one or two a year. I think keeping it simple makes it more enjoyable for everyone. If someone has to keep track of money for 3, 6, whatever months it becomes to much like a job. Even worse if someone gets butthurt over how their $5-10 is spent. Money handling always seems to bring out butthurt at some point. Paying as we go just seems like it would keep it simple. If you come, just plan to pay $5-15 and it seems like it would take some of the money hassle off of you or whoever. Just my .02 though. I'm in for whatever, we have seemed to all have had fun at all of them so far.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
The original idea was to charge everyone based on the rental fee/headcount but people started handing me $10 and $20 and said keep it so that by time you paid we already had the required $150 rental fee and I wasn't sure what to do if I have an excess. One idea going around in my head is anything over $150 can go into a fund for food and supplies for the next shoot but until it's agreed upon how the money will be kept I thought it best to just stop taking money at $150.Whootsinator wrote: I've attended two KAC shoots. ^ this. Whether it's for the food fund or donation to the site. As long as it's clear to everybody, shouldn't be any issues. I assume 95% of the ppl here don't mind contributing to any of the causes. Good gang of folks here

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
I agree with this, but it just takes one person whining about how someone is handling their $5 to take the fun out of it for whoever is handling it. I have absolutely zero issues how the money is handled, but it seems like at some point there is aways someone that will cry over $2.13...hahaGeminiXD9 wrote:^ this. Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
If I had continued taking money Sat I could have had $40-$80 excess, but that is just a guess.
Based on the headcount Sat the fee if divided evenly would have been $6 each but I had people handing me 10s and 20s and saying keep it.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
We could have shoots every 3 months and alternate Saturdays and Sundays. That way people who work on Saturday could make it every other shoot. Same for people who work on Sunday. I have no problem with paying $10-$15 to shoot all day.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
If every 4 months and if we used Feb as the starting base shoots will be in June, Oct, and Feb. With June and Oct we stand a good chance of comfortable weather with Feb being a crap shoot (pun?). We got lucky as heck Sat.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
Every person that attends pays a set amount. Anything over the range fee goes to buy product and used as prizes at the following shoot n shit.
I hope to attend the next. May even give away a holster or 2.

Re: Questions for future KAC shoots
Like Niceguy, I think the key here is keeping things simple, for ease of planning/managing and for mitigation of butthurt. Requiring a set amount sounds nice, but who is going to keep track of who shows up and who pays? No one wants to be a gate guard and I don't think we're untrustworthy to the point of requiring tickets/passes/colored name tags. Prizes sound cool in theory but when will they be drawn? What if someone isn't there? Who decides what the prizes are? What if some people don't agree with the prizes their money is spent to buy? Just too much unnecessary headache, especially with more useful things for the funds to go to.
I would take the range fee ($150?) and divide that by the number of people that say they will be there. Not the 'I might show up' people, but the the people that say they will be there. That's what you pay. Keep taking money even if the $150 is met, and use that extra to help pay for food, or even a couple bucks for the headache of the organizers.
