Thanks for your service.

I remember sitting at the dinner table watching all the tracers over Baghdad with Bernie shaw and wolf blitzer calling the play by play. I should have joined but went back to school. One of my regrets...

I actually considered joining, too, but by then I was too old and they wouldn't take me.

One of my regrets...

Regret, more specifically my desire to have none, was one of my primary reasons for enlisting when I did. I haven't done a thing yet, and may never, but in twenty years I will be able to look back without regret for not offering to do whatever was needed.

If you think you'll ever regret not doing something, do it while you can.

To me the biggest thank you that can be given to anyone serving is to offer to serve alongside them.

They still tell stories of the 100 hour war, you know. I know a few Shield/Storm vets... they prepped me well for my 2003 stint in the sandbox. Thank you. I literally owe you my life.

I guess in the end we all serve standing on the shoulders of those who served before us. Never pass up an opportunity serve (only if circumstances are carefully measured and for prudent, of course) and NEVER pass up an opportunity to say thank you.

I remember having collector desert storm trading cards as a kid. Watching it on tv happen is surreal. Still have the cards I believe boxed up with my comic books/baseball cards/basketball cards. Better to have collected that stuff than spent money on drugs I guess.
