Damaged Vet Banners replaced

Post by Kadnine » Wed Jan 30, 2013 11:55 am

... in Orange County.
The military banner program was started in 2009 to honor Anaheim residents deployed overseas or recently killed in action. Seventy-two banners have been hung so far along Brookhurst Street, Lincoln Avenue and Santa Ana Canyon.

Spearheading the replacement effort is Leslie Swan, an Anaheim Hills resident and real estate agent. She is friends with Chris Cook and was spurred into action when Chris Cook told her about her son's [wind damaged] banner.
Outstanding. It's stuff like this that warms the place where my cynical, combat-hardened, killer heart used to be. And kittens. They do the trick, too.

"'...what it is to be a bondservant thou knowest full well, but of freedom thou hast never yet made trial, to know whether it be a sweet thing or not. For if ever thou hadst experience thereof, thou wouldest counsel us to fight for it not with spears only but with axes.' Thus the Spartans answered Hydarnes." - Herodotus
