Serial number question

Post by Geno » Sun Aug 27, 2017 8:50 pm

Would it be a big deal to you if a G17 gen3 had a different serial number on the slide and barrel than the REAL serial number on the frame?

I have mixed slides and frames to get a different grip texture, however if they were to be sold I think that I would match the slide and frame. Am I just being OCD or not an issue?

I have a few mutts that work great. No problems what so ever. If I was buying a mutt Glock I'd definitely want to pay less than a matching # gun.

I'd match the serial numbers up if I were selling the gun.

Not that it's a big deal; I've swapped out slides and frames myself, but if I were buying such a gun from someone it might make me wonder what sort of shade tree "gunsmithing" they might have done that isn't apparent visually.

The matching serial number means only one thing , that is so the parts are to the same frame when it leaves Glock factory. Because there may be fitted parts to that frame and stay togather after finishing.
There is no legal requirement for matching numbers.

The matching serial numbers do add a retail value to the consumer.

Went ahead and purchased a used frame to have grip mods that I prefer and can use throughout my 9mm/40 Glocks. Thus the numerical order will be maintained! LOL
Thanks for the input. Geno

Good choice. I'd avoid buying a mixed numbers used firearm myself, for the same reasons as Frailer. "Why? What was wrong with it? What IS wrong with it?"

I just purchased a G17 frame on Armslist.com. You never know what you'll see. I had seen them before but not usually when actively looking for one. Timing is everything.
