Thoughts on XD 45 Service?

Post by z1166 » Thu Dec 25, 2014 5:16 pm

I'm considering trading in a glock 19 and 30SF for a XD 45 Service, the 4" model. Of course, I'll have a few bucks left over.

Any experience with this XD?

I have a XD 9 subcompact which used to be my daily carry, before I wanted 45acp on my hip.

Thanks,

Z

Someones about to get a hell of a deal!

PS, the Glock 30 is by far the absolute best shooting 45acp I have ever shot

Why would you ever trade Glocks for XDs?

XD is gtg in my book...

I actually prefer XD over Glock...

But a 2 Glocks for 1 XD is no bueno

I don't particularly care for the grips on my glocks. My xd9 seemed to fit like a glove and I liked the trigger better than the glocks. I know both of these can be improved with aftermarket items.

Worst case is I don't trade in the glocks and end up with the 19, 30sf, xd9, and the xd45. Wife wouldn't share our excitement.

Yeah not 2 glocks for 1 xd.... that's what I meant when I mentioned having a few [hundred] bucks left over.

Id say do it. I'd trade any Glock for a Xd of any model. Any day of the week.

Gotcha...

Go with what you like...

Glock makes a fine weapon... nothing bad to say about them. But you won't find much XD love on here.

I've owned a lot of XDs over the years... all been good to me. Only real issue I recall was with the newer 45 single stack they came out with not too long ago.

It's all personal preference...

Nope. You will never see a Glock in my safe. I'm yet to find one that's comfortable in my hand.

Not a Glock fan due simply to ergonomics. I love the simplicity of them though. I currently have a G34 and a G41. No matter how much I bitch about them, I always seem to have at least one of them...haha My first and only XD experience was bad. I got a lemon of a XDS45. I loved how it felt in hand and how it shot, in the 4 out 5 chance the damn thing would fire...haha I'll probably give one a second chance one day down the road. I really want to shoot one of the new HK's. Even the guns I bitch about I still like. I just love guns!

I like the xd45 tactical. It seems to be very popular. I can't recall ever seeing a service model 45. I'd go tactical over service.

I have a .45 XD Service model and even I would not trade a Glock for a XD.

The year 1911 called, it wants its grip safety back.
There are reasons that this gun is not used by major LEO's in the US.
That's my thoughts on the XD, Croatian gun.

Any pistol is going to go bang (except Hi-Point...see St Louis). Get what you can shoot well and fits your needs. Just make sure you know market value.

I fingered a 4" 40sw today and it felt great in hand. This will be a tough decision.
