VersaGlock

What is you alls opinion of conversion barrels? Like getting a G23 and having 9mm and 357sig barrels. How well do G23's function with either or both of the other two calibers. Is it as simple as swapping barrels and correct ammo and mags and fire away or does it require spring changes or anything else? Seems like a great idea to me. One gun, 3 caliber options. A G41 with a 10mm barrel when they come available sounds badass too...

6" 10mm barrels are available for G21s. I'd be curious to see if they make anything longer for the G41 conversion barrels.

I have had a Lone Wolf 9mm barrel for my G27 ... and it worked great ... after some +p rounds down the tube ...
However, I have a G17 Gen4 with a 6.5" Lone Wolf barrel and compensator that I have been feeding +p and +p+ loads to for a while... and it still doesn't want to eat factory 124 gr and 115 gr .... have to hand cycle each round ...
I am going to order a Wolff Spring tuning kit for it and find out what I need to make it cycle with factory loads (115 and 124 gr...)

I have used (in G23) 9mm barrels and 357 SIG barrels. I have read that you may need a new extractor when using a 9mm barrel in a 40 smith Glock. I had no issues with a few hundred rounds over two RWI courses with 9mm.

The 357 Sig rounds would not load to capacity on my 40 Smith mags. They worked fine but I could only get 10 or so rounds in a 13 round G19 mag. I picked up a few 357 Sig mags and both 40 Smith and 357 Sig work fine. Something about different followers. I don't know all the details just what happened to me with multiple mags.

357 Sig works fine in the G23. It is a handful though. Not a round I want to carry every day.

With the new extractor are the supposed to work fine with all 3 calibers? Why not 357sig as an everyday carry? It's a pretty effective round isn't it?

Cool. I think I'll pick up a G23 if I can find a deal on one. I love the idea of 3 calibers, one gun... Variety is the spice of life...haha

I doubt I'll load .40 or .357sig.

I have a LW conversion barrel for my G27. I have only to install the barrel, and use 9mm G26 (or larger, they all fit) magazines to get it to run flawlessly. I have never had to mess with anything else, on mine. With the AA .22 conversion, it gives me 3 calibers that I can run on the same frame with minimal investment to achieve the versatility I wanted from it.

To me, .357 SIG is a very powerful cartridge that doesn't really give any better performance than 9mm or .40S&W, and it's really expensive to utilize, even when reloading. Necked down pistol cartridges are notorious for being problematic, and even 7.62x25 is now more trouble, and expense, than I am willing to deal with. This is why I run the 9mm barrel in my Tokarev far more often than the 7.62 barrel (mine happened to come with both barrels when I bought it, a very fortunate thing, as now 7.62x25 is damn near impossible to find on the cheap).

This is an area where I really feel the K.I.S.S. principle applies heavily.
