Glock 26

Post by Bill » Sun Apr 13, 2014 9:22 am

I just upgraded my wife's carry gun to a G26. She has always had .380 pocket pistols and she is having a little trouble with this guns size and recoil. Does anyone have any tips on how a smaller woman can carry a G26 without printing. I was also wondering what is the best way to reduce recoil and improve accuracy? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I carry mine in a crossbreed iwb holster and I am a small framed guy. Any quality iwb should work well.

As for recoil, you could spend the money and have the barrel and slide ported.
If grip is an issue you can try the pierce grip extensions.

Or try to trade it for a G42.

Might try a stainless steel or titanium guide rod to add weight to the front.

Not titanium if you want to add weight.

I put the pierce finger extension on the day we bought it. I bought her a sticky holster for it, but the way her jeans fit it prints real bad. I will probably order a SS guide rod for it if she decides to keep it. I just couldn't force myself to spend 450 bucks on a 380 that only holds 6 rounds. That and 380 rounds are nearly impossible to find, and when you do they cost more than my .40 or 45. Thanks for the input.

Meant to say tungsten. Weighs about double the stainless.

Has she tried a 9mm Shield? They are considerably thinner and very manageable recoil. Does she shoot much to get used to a little recoil?

a plus 2 grip/mag extension, and lots of dry firing. then when at the range, as soon as shots pull off target, unload and six remedial dry fires, then shoot and repeat, all the wile explaing yeah its loud, yeah it will jump, but aint gonna hurt, just let it go off while slow squezing trigger, concentrating on holding front sight still.

She has shot my shield a couple of times. I can't really tell a difference in felt recoil. I do think I shoot the shield more accurately. I think her biggest problem is that she has a flinch. That started with her first pistol. She would watch the internal hammer on her LCP drop and when it got close to the break she would flinch. How do you teach someone not to flinch?

Repetition. Repetition. Repetition... Live round and dummy round in random orders.

if you can run some drills with just a lil foot movement, often the focus on recoil is greatly diminished.
