Glock? what the real difference between a G17 and a G19

Not real sure what the difference is other than mag capacity out of the box, maybe a stupid question. Thinking of takeing my POWs in a different direction. So witch is a better in your opinion.

The 17 is a full size service pistol. The 19 is a more compact pistol with a shorter grip, slide and barrel.

The 19 is considered by many to be the perfect carry gun with a good balance between size and capacity. And it will accept the larger capacity 17 mags as spares.

I would recommend trying them both before buying. I had both. Sold the 19, bought another 17 and had the grip cut to 19 size (because I want to be like DD). It is all personal preference.

The size difference is kind of surprising for how small it sounds.

Same for the 26 vs the two mentioned.

For carry you can tell that half inch isnt there.

When its in your hand you can tell also. A 17 grip extends below my hand, a 19 does not and my hand is more in the way when inserting a mag. Obviously a 26 then is well up into my hand.

One thing that is VERY noticeable to me between the 17 and 19 is the ergonomic of the grip. The 17 has a very noticeable hump or arc in the rear of the grip that is very uncomfortable in my hands, the 19's I don't notice it as much. The gen4 17's with no back strap feel a lot more comfortable in my hands than the earlier gen's also.
Not a Glock fan but after fondling some gen4's, I may become one...

Outstanding thanks guys. So G19 mags will not fit a G17 but G17s will fit both. When you say G17 cut to G19 frame was that gunsmithed or did you stick a G17 slide and guts onto a G19 frame. So next questions what does a slightly used G17/19 go for and are there any tells when looking at one to see if it has not had 15million rounds threw it before you buy.

They mean that the g17 frame was cut down to g19 length so it would accept 19 mags. Either by a gunsmith or somebody that has done it successfully. I think a few guys here have done it iirc. The glock gurus will chime in eventually lol

The only place they really wear visibly from shooting is the top of the barrel hood. Ive had them ping the slide on the inside, but this isnt something I look for when I buy a glock. The muzzle end of the bbl usually have slight rub marks on them when new that dont get much worse with age. The finish on the slide lock and extractor can wear if you rub them on hard surfaces a little, nothing to do with round count tho.

If the trigger is really shitty and gritty its a good sign. They clean up with a couple thousand rounds....or if a prev. Owner sanded on internal parts.

Holster wear is usually minimal as well...the 17 and 26 in these pics have been carried a lot. The 19 hasnt...and has only been shot once. I cant tell at all.

$400/gun and $25/mag is what I look for when buying or selling.

Guess Im weird. I prefer the grip of the 17 and shoot better with it as well.
