Extended slide release on G19/23/32
Recently installed an extended slide release on my G19. Bought it and an extended magazine release off of Ebay for under $16.25 shipped. They are both Lone Wolf brand. I think you can get just the slide release for around $12 shipped.
Just did the install of the extended slide release a bit ago. Very simple to swap out and also a very noticeable change. The slide release is now definitely easier to engage.

Have it on most of my Glocks and like them better than the flat stock with ridges.

Don't care for them. Hardly use the slide release button as it is.

It's a slide stop, not a release and they make locking back a bit easier but I agree they are not needed to function. I have lots of things I don't need like cars but I'm not walking to work!Marcus wrote:Don't care for them. Hardly use the slide release button as it is.

It doesn't STOP the slide from coming forward any better than a stock part, however it makes it easier to RELEASE a slide that's locked back. That is it's function and the only reason it's changed out.jackalo626 wrote:It's a slide stop, not a release and they make locking back a bit easier but I agree they are not needed to function. Sure it does. It is flared outward and lifting up with your thumb has a bigger place to lift and works. I don't release mine with it.Marcus wrote:It doesn't STOP the slide from coming forward any better than a stock part, however it makes it easier to RELEASE a slide that's locked back. Shoot the slide from a slingshot?guncrank1 wrote:It is a slide stop
The correct way to charge the pistol is to slingshot the slide.
Why?
Must be one hell of a slingshot.

Not arguing about it's name, arguing that the PURPOSE of an extended slide stop is to make it easier to manipulate the slide stop WHEN USING IT TO RELEASE THE SLIDE.guncrank1 wrote:It is a slide stop

But the gun could not go to batteryMarcus wrote:Not arguing about it's name, arguing that the PURPOSE of an extended slide stop is to make it easier to manipulate the slide stop WHEN USING IT TO RELEASE THE SLIDE.guncrank1 wrote:It is a slide stop

By pulling back and releasing the slide with the off hand , that will insure a gun in battery position.
Plus for me the gun is still in the hand with no change in grip, but do what you want.
I would not want to depend on a thinnish metal lever breaking.
As I have seen that happen with cast parts.

And that is the method I use. Hence why I have no use to modify my glocks with an extended slide stop.guncrank1 wrote:By pulling back and releasing the slide with the off hand , that will insure a gun in battery position.Marcus wrote:Not arguing about it's name, arguing that the PURPOSE of an extended slide stop is to make it easier to manipulate the slide stop WHEN USING IT TO RELEASE THE SLIDE.guncrank1 wrote:It is a slide stop

Re: Extended slide release on G19/23/32
I try to teach myself both methods (weak-hand on slide or slide STOP release). 2 problems possible with weak-hand are inadvertently riding the slide as it goes forward or placing part of your palm in front of the muzzle (especially possible with a short barreled sub-compact). Problem with using the slide STOP lever is possible accelerated wear on certain parts.

There is no argument. It is just a discussion. That's what forums are for. If you just wanted to post that you bought new items then you should have posted in the "what did you pick up thread".BK Meyers wrote:I try to teach myself both methods (weak-hand on slide or slide STOP release). 2 problems possible with weak-hand are inadvertently riding the slide as it goes forward or placing part of your palm in front of the muzzle (especially possible with a short barreled sub-compact). Re: Extended slide release on G19/23/32
...to each their own, I've used them before. There are pros and cons to everything, I personally haven't seen extended slide stops to be overly more effect than factory. However, it's better to have and not need then be fucked and not have.
