To Glock or Not to Glock?

This. I can't say anything bad about Glocks, but I'll never own one because they don't "fit" me and I don't shoot well with them.

Go to the range, rent a few models, put at least a few mags through each, and then make your decision.

Edit - Or just go to any shooting event and ask to shoot other's guns!
Eagerly awaiting the XDS release...

To Glock or Not to Glock?

From a converted former Glock hater and they didn't fit my hand. Yes, you really can't go wrong with one. That said

I'm think Glock 17 or 19. I will be carrying it. Don't mind the weight or bulky ness of it all (for now at least) couldn't be as bad as lugging my Taurus around.
Here is another question, after I get the .22 conversion kit, what other after market stuff and i put on her?

Oops meant to say that said there is nothing wrong with XD or M&P either.

Only thing left to get or add on is night sights, good holster, ammo and a good training class.

Caliber conversions yes, but I thought the .22 conversion was 17/22 only.

TacSol makes them for the 17 and 19. Whittakers has both in stock at the moment (or did last week, at least).

Advantage Arms makes them for all three sizes.

You're welcome.

Now if we could just get somebody to make one that costs less than a complete .22 pistol...

To Glock or Not to Glock?

True. To be honest, I've never shot the glock .22 kits. I know the 1911 kits can be very picky.

I have AA conversion kits for my G27, G19/23, G21, & G22. With some break in and care, they all ran great nearly from the beginning. You must use good, hi-velocity ammo to break them in (AA recommends Remington Golden Bullets, why I don't know, but the do work well in these kits) and they like to be run wet wth a good lube. They should be cleaned (at least pull a boresnake through the barrel) every 200 rds for the break-in period, then when needed thereafter. After ~500 rounds or so, mine can now run just about any load that's in spec for .22LR. With the threaded barrels from AA, they all make outstanding suppressor hosts.

G17 or G19, between them you only give up 2 rounds and some size/weight for carry. I prefer the G19, myself.

Yeah they are great carry pieces and that is what they are to me 27 & 26. Not so much the range gun for fun. I do shoot them to break them in and then they are just shot occasionally for function checking.

Thinking I'll get a 17 or 19 for fun and occasional carry, and then a Kel Tec pf9 for always carry or a .357 snubby

If you own a G19, the rest of your handguns will become moot. Its exactly the right size between full and compact. You can get a full grip without unnecessary bulk. And they just plain work. At least as importantly, any monkey with a punch can detail strip the whole gun and perform any and all maintenance/upgrades themselves. That's a big deal to me. Plus parts are cheap, common, and plentiful.

I've been running a 9mm Glock in some form for over a decade and havent had failures attributable to the gun to this date. That's major!

As someone else wisely said, don't focus on how it fits your hand. Focus on how well you run it.
You better call Kenny Loggins. Cause you're in the danger zone.
