XDs 9mm

Post by Bill » Thu Jun 13, 2013 9:40 pm

Kentucky Gun Co. Has the XDs 9mm in stock. Just picked one up today. Looks great and feels great. Can't wait to go shoot tomorrow. Will give an update on the performance afterwards. This gun might put my G26 in the safe.

Handled one the other day, awkward feeling. Can't pinpoint why just sits odd in my hand. I'll keep my shield.
Oh, how so high they fly........ only further to fall.

I loved the feel of the XDs 45 so who knows if a good deal on one pops up I might try it. Not at $569 though. Not saying that's a bad price just not my buy price.

Glock does need to come out with something to stay competitive with Springfield and S&W. I also had to put my hands on the Shield. Super comfortable, but I've just had such good luck with my Springfield's I couldn't pass it up.

Because they have trouble with keeping up demand as it is and they would rather you buy their 26 instead and churn them out like hot cakes on their old tooling. Just my take on it.

So what's the deal with this gun? Is it close to the size of the G26 but thin like the Shield?

Single stack so it seems people go crazy for them. I like capacity because no gunfight ever has had a combatant say "damn this gun for holding too much ammo"!

A small thin alternative that is worth a shit (like the Shield) is a great option. Something for shorts or warmup pockets. Or for the person that just isn't comfortable being able to conceal a full size gun or even a G19/M&P9c or similar. Carrying a reliable 7/8 round pistol is much better than carrying nothing at all or relying on a LCP or a PF9 or something that totally sucks to shoot like that.

I don't generally like Glocks but I have a Model 36 which is more comfortable than my xds really. Grip is a little better, about the same capacity.

It totally has a place and I agree. I just think that Glock has casual buyers who don't collect them all and would lose their 26/27 sales % to the smaller gun which would not be as beneficial as churning out your old faithful traditional design with no new tooling or r&d etc.

I don't know. After looking at the Glock thread on here I think it's safe that all you Glocksters don't have a problem buying one or two or 8 more Glocks...:llama: haha

So I got to shoot the new XDs 9 today. Shoots very well. Put several different types of ammo through it with no problem. With that being said, it will not replace my G26. My Glock is more accurate and more comfortable to handle. I didn't expect it to shoot as accurate as my full sized pistols, but I did expect better than what I got. My wife loved it. She has taken claim to it for her new carry gun. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.

That is what I would think going into it.
