That is one beast of a round. Haven't had an opportunity to shoot one yet. A buddy has an pistol barrel for an TC Encore chambered for it. Are you shooting these from the S&W revolver? I've had my paws on the 10.5" and the 14" XVR. I like them both, but think I prefer the 10.5."

Is 460 S&W and 460 Rowland the same? If not, what's the differences?

Found 23.5 gr of longshot worked out to be a consistent relatively mild load. Mild like a 44 mag.

Jesus this is a fun gun to shoot.

I'm surprised it didn't blow the primer out before splitting the case like that. Unless you're crimping the primers, that is. I have some handloads for my 44 mag that my dad or brother made that were over pressure. They just split the very end of the case at the bullet, back to about where the depth of the seated bullet would be. Some crazy stuff you have there!

Those separated cases seem as if you were making 45 auto rim cases!

Started at 22gr and worked out to 27gr with my handloader to adjust for later today.

No

About 1,000 fps and 20,000 psi

Rowland- 1200ish fps and up end of 45000 psi

460- 2300ish fps and up end of 65000 psi

460 Rowland is a 45 auto with a hair longer case so it won't chamber in a normal 45. It has a thicker case to keep it from blowing out. A 460 Rowland can shoot 45 super and 45 auto.

460 S&W is a stretched out 454 Cassull. It's what happened when the guys at smith looked at the 500 and said what would happen if we made it a .45" and use that 0.05" of steel to make it stronger. Plus you can shoot all of the smaller calibers that it's based on like 454 and 45 LC.

Might just be able to ream out one of the 45LC offerings from a modern maker?
