Converting 223 to 300 whisper

Post by ken6881 » Fri Dec 04, 2015 9:38 pm

Anyone have a good method to do it. I started some the other day and found it to be highly labor intensive and stopped. For me it seems at the moment I'm going to be buying my 300 whisper brass. But if someone has a better method I'm interested because I have a decent amount of 223 laying around.

IMO unless you are going to do a huge amount of brass , you might as well just sell the 223 brass and buy 300 BLK. My opinions just based on the simple math as I dont run 300 BLK but with the cut off saw and annealing , and the time it takes me to anneal my brass one at a time, I would just buy it.

Well I reload 223 so I plan to keep it but yeah at the price of converted 223 brass I can't see a way to make it worth my time.

With a proper jig and a HF mini chop saw, I have little problem converting .223/5.56 to .300BLK/Whisper. Once I'm set up, it doesn't take long to convert 500 cases.

I actually think processing mil-spec brass with crimped primers a bigger pain in the ass, and I have the right tools for the job.

Of course, I consider my time to be mine to spend as I see fit, money, not so much.
