Tumbling brass
I have not loaded any rifle ammo in about 2 years. Getting low on a few calibers, so it's time to get busy. I have about 250 .308/7.62 brass, 300 6.5x55 Swede, about 100 7.5x55 Swiss, some 30-40 Krag, 7.62x54R, 8x56R, plus 38 Spl., 357 Mag., and 45 ACP pistol brass. Tumbler has been running since 6 pm and will probably run all day tomorrow.
Cutting grass is the price I gladly pay for not being cold.

What is making it a pain? With a decent tumbler, good media, polish, and a media separator its a breeze.Statcher1 wrote:Reloading I enjoy. I find it calming and peaceful. It's the cleaning part that I don't care for.

midway had the tumblers that use the stainless steel pins on sale. Was thinking that might be a good Christmas gift for me.

Reloading takes the stress off everything else.
I enjoy it, except my Lee powder thrower. I hate that thing!
Going to upgrade to a digital soon.

I'm actually running a Lyman sonic cleaner. It'll do around 75cases at a time. But if I have a lot to clean it. They take up my whole loading bench. When they are layed out to dry. That's the only part that aggravates me. Is making sure they are good and dry.samb. wrote:What is making it a pain? Re: Tumbling brass
In the past 24 hours I have tumbled 1300 pistol brass and about 900 rifle brass. That should keep me busy for a while at the reloading bench.

Here's my least favorite part. Separating 38 spl. and 357 mag. brass. Also have 100+ 45 auto brass that was deprimed before tumbling. Can watch football while unplugging flash holes.

Re: Tumbling brass
If I'm wet tumbling with the steel pins, should I deprime and then tumble or tumble and then deprime? I haven't started yet but have everything. I have the frame of my reloading bench built and hope to get the top on it this week so I can start this over the winter since it's dark already when I get home every night and can't really do anything outside.

Re: Tumbling brass
I can tumble 500 pcs. of 38/357, 9mm, or45 at a time. Or 200-250 pcs. of 308 brass. I tumble 9mm and 45 separately.Statcher1 wrote:I'm actually running a Lyman sonic cleaner. Re: Tumbling brass
Used a large Shamwow to dry the brass initially. Actually 2. Put the brass from the separator into a Shamwow, rolled it around, shook it some, and transferred it to a 2nd Shamwow. Left it laying spread out for a few hours. Put it back into the storage bin. Pretty happy with the results.
