I need a cheap car
...for my stepson. Under $1,000. Doesn't have to be pretty, just needs to be running, preferably with a/c.
If it needs plugs, wires, brake pads or minor things that's ok, just no major work needed.
I keep reading ads for cars that say 'runs great! just needs new rod bearings, tranny won't go in gear', etc...

oh yeah- I've had 4 Wranglers, 2 Cherokees and a Grand with the same 4.0 driveline. You can't kill them; they just get bad mpg's.
When I buy another 'nice' car it will be another Jeep, either a Cherokee or Grand...
I ended up buying a 1991 Buick LeSabre off CL for $800 bucks- not a thing wrong with it. An old lady left it on the street after registration expired- in Indiana -and the po-po towed it off and she signed it over since she never drove it anyway. It has the 3800 v6 with 140,000 miles on it and rides like a marshmallow, and it has a cassette player!! AND whitewall tires!!!
All I need to do is add the requisite box of tissues on the rear deck...
