Amsoil says 25,000 to 15,000 miles between changes depending one type of driving and RP says 12,000 miles. So you are actually saving money...ssracer wrote:I used to use RP but quickly tired of $50-$60 oil changes. I just use valvoline or mobile one synthetic
I just read how mobile 1 and valvoline aren't really synthetic. They are crude base oil with additives.

$7 a quart? That can't be the good stuff can it? I read that amsoil has 24 lines of oil and 4 are not true man made synthetic.

I get mine from NAPA in Campbellsville. I use their ATF in the manual trans and axles on my race truck. The manual says to use 70w90, but I like the smell of ATF better.

Re: Does anyone use amsoil or royal purple?
I've used Amsoil in my Scion when I had it and my Dad swears by it. He drives a 00 Tundra and changes his oil twice or three times a year. But I couldn't do that but then again I've owned two brand new cars and wanted to keep them new and under warranty verses a 10-12 year old truck. So I change mine every 5000ish with synthetic.

I used RP back in my dirt bike days. (90's-02' mainly in NC)
Good stuff, I swear by it but know not where it can be purchased locally.
