Re: The 4Runner project
So just throwing this out there but i toyed with the idea of building a "supra-truck" for a while. I went so far as buying the left-overs of a 7mgte. everything except the block and rolling mass (crank rods and pistons) i really really wish i would have pursued that to be honest intead of dumping my money into a friggin honda that i ultimately totaled out because of those little stupid helicopters in the road lol.

Re: The 4Runner project
got back at it the last couple weekends. Thanks to DDgunslinger for helping me tape up the body. wire wheeled the frame and the underbody for a few hours. Painted it with some frame paint we make at work. Luckily my dad had a small hvlp gun i could use. had a hard time getting in some of those tight spots. All and all i am happy with the finished product. now to reassemble the rear suspension and move up to the front.

Sweet! Looks good you guys...Looks just like the under side of my '84. I lifted the body off, sandblasted it and coated everything in POR15... Are you lifting it at the same time? Makes both easier if you do it all at once.

Yeah it's getting 4 inch leaf springs from procomp. I also picked up some new seats out of 88 runner a while back.

Re: The 4Runner project
I did a 4" Superlift lift. It's okay on small bumps but stiff as all hell on bigger bumps! It clears 32" tires easily even with the front bumper skirt still on it. It would probably clear 33" okay too. When I did it I planned on keeping it real stock looking but found rust in the fenders and said F it and will probably trim the fenders, exo-cage it and bounce it off trees and shit...haha

Re: The 4Runner project
That is what I have on mine. The BFG km2 mud terrains. Nice tires, they do good and offroad. Been in some super nasty mud at the Dirty Turtle and they did great!

Re: The 4Runner project
I have one but not mounted anywhere. I've been working on ideas about making a bracket that would come out toward the tailgate on the driver's side of the roll bar and mount it standing up there. Other option is going with a aftermarket rear bumper that will accommodate one. Still not sure which I want to do yet.

Bumpers are awesome but so expensive. The guy from rlc welding quoted me 700 a few months back.
This one is awesome but I don't weld it's a nogo.

Re: The 4Runner project
That one look great but a little pricey. I weld like shit. I can make it stick but it ain't pretty...haha Fortunately on of my best friends is a fabricator by trade and his welds look like a machine weld.

Re: The 4Runner project
I could probably get a guy at work to weld it up for you. Throw him some cash or some ammo.

Show him the picture. Ask what he thinks it might run

Re: The 4Runner project
Made some progress tonight. Got the driver side spring mounted and axel mounted to the spring. Gonna do the passenger side Thursday night. Get the shocks in and put the tires back on and move to the front.
