Need a mechanic- 2011 Honda Pilot

Post by kokopelli » Sun Feb 28, 2021 4:30 pm

My go-to Indy Honda mechanic has finally retired, it looks like. I need a recommendation for someone to do: Timing belt, tensioner and water pump on the wife's 2011 Honda Pilot 3.5 V6. Probably go ahead and do the serpentine belt and idler pulley, too, and adjust the valves.

Another Honda trained or experienced Honda mechanic preferred, or at least someone that knows the tips and tricks to these things- like using the correct 'Hondabond' sealant in very specific places on the valve-cover gasket...I can gather the oem Honda/Aisian parts myself if someone just wants to do the labor.

Any recommendations appreciated!

Toyo Brothers in Middletown does great work on many imports. Not sure if they include Honda's in their specialty. Worth a call.

Had lots of work done there on multiple vehicles.

Uptons Imports in Middletown. Family owned and operated. Good guys to deal with. Have allowed me to bring my own parts in the past. But have not used them in a while.

I finally stopped by there today- super nice guy. He's going to call me Monday with an estimate and can fit it in next week, and was happy to have me supply the parts.

I had found one of the city mechanics was doing side work and had talked to him about doing it, but after "call me in a week...call me next week" multiple times I figured he just doesn't want to do the job, or doesn't know his way around imports.
