2011 F150 5.0 VCT problem

Post by Dustin » Mon Dec 28, 2020 10:51 am

So my truck started throwing a code P0023:00-AF B Camshaft Position Actuator A Control Circuit / Open Bank. I have replaced all the solenoids and pig tails on all 4 for them. Still getting the code. Have not found a wiring problem yet. Does some have access to wiring diagram? So that I can find the connection from the solenoid to the ECM to verify the connection is good. Or any other troubleshooting advice would be helpful.

Go to eautorepair.net and subscribe to your truck's service information. That's what I do now that BBB industries took down their free TSBs and wiring diagrams.

Is it running rough at idle?
I remember someone having to replace the canister purge valve, I believe with the same code.
I don't go back to work until next week so I know that's no help right now, but I'm pretty sure it was a coworker that had the same issue.

Almost sounds like an O2 sensor but I know that throws a completely different code.
Is the exhaust flowing strong at the tail pipe? Have someone gradually rev the engine and hold a small sheet of cardboard over it and see if it blows away from or not. Catalytic converter clog could be an issue.

eautorepair.net is the diy version of Mitchell. I've quit poking around the internet for pinouts. Seems like I never get the right one. Just this week I needed a pinout for a Ford 4.0 v6. Very common but the computer changes year to year. Just spend the $20 and get the 1 month subscription.

On either of those sites, I believe you can look at a preview vehicle and see all the info they provide

Had a squirrel do that to some wiring to the transmission on a Taurus we had. They found a walnut next to the chewed wire on top of the transmission
