Chassis Table

Post by Mexican Kerry » Thu Jan 12, 2017 10:06 pm

Built this table the other day cause I'm tired of kneeling on the floor when I make stuff. I've got a Model A frame to build and a 55 Chevy frame to modify and I want to try making them as square as possible.

Built out of 2x4 3/16" tubing, with homemade screw jacks for raising the casters off the floor and leveling. I'll build bolt-on clamping jigs to secure/support the work on the table.

Its 4' x 10', and heavy as hell so it should help to keep the chassis true (I hope).

I like it. One day I will get around to building my 4x8 welding table

Made some slip-on table extensions to support the front end since the table is only 10 ft long. Scrap left over from my first (failed) Model A frame.

New shock bar welded between frame rails, original shocks mount directly to trunk floor sheetmetal and is a weak point.

Yup, I would. Only problem would be if I brought it down and you said "This car is a piece of shit, deal's off." But I guess it would be a road trip which isn't a bad thing.

Nice work, Going gasser on the Chevy? I was building a 2 Lane Blacktop replica when some one had to have it a lot more than it was worth to me. Nice frame work and welding.
I was only going to build one...

I picked up a new frame last year and am planning on a swap eventually. The current frame has some rot and shady mods done to it. I cut the front off and started a new subframe for a beam axle, just need the axle and springs now.

My brother is maybe buying a 56 pickup so I'm hoping to get the axle out of it cause he's still dreaming of a Camaro front swap.

I agree. But everyone's got different tastes. Would be a cool shop truck if he gets it and does some work to it. It needs a lot but he figures the price is right and he likes a project.
