They seem to be well built. What ever you do, make sure the tint is as dark as possible.

If someone else hasn't replaced the transmission, you will. Other than that, I have no problems.

Yep. Sister in law had an Odyssey around that vintage, had three replacement trannies put in. Honda extended the warranty on them because it was a known problem; every time the new trans was approaching the new warranty threshold, it was already going out...PDM wrote:If someone else hasn't replaced the transmission, you will. Not unique to the Odyssey, though. The Pilots, Accords and Civics were effected too.
Junk trannies not a Honda unique issue either. Chrysler, Toyota and Ford plagued.
Of the mini vans, the Odysseys are the nicest by far.
Re: Honda Odyssey....GO
What everyone else has said about the transmissions is what I know about them too.
I have a subscription to Consumer Reports and that is one neutral rating is the Drive System until you get to the 2009 (however, that just may be that those 09's haven't had time to go out yet). The 09 has the best rating with the exception of the electrical system which is neutral (and in my opinion may or may not give you issues ). However 2010 and 2011 have negatives in the electrical system so I don't know what caused the difference but that may be something to watch out for. I find that CR is generally a good guide as to what you may have problems with.
I like the Odyssey, even though I have never owned a van in my life, Honda is generally good and good resale also.
