Re: New project!
Pretty much. Shaft will probably need replacing or at least mod too. Pulling flywheel tomorrow to take in to get checked out. Hopefully just re-face and not replace. Got some light surface cracks in it I want a pro to look at.

Re: New project!
Then after all this is done I want to look at suspension. Need to address the axle wrap issue. Not sure which way to go. Ladder bars would probably work well but give rougher ride, cal-tracs would give better ride but not be vintage correct. I want to make the car safer and better but I don't want to give up the nostalgia thing.

I'm also thinking about red tint since I mentioned the nostalgia thing. What you think?

Re: New project!
Me neither but when you're buying a used car you don't have the options. And when I brought it home the wife told me I wasn't painting it any other color. The plan was satin black or primer grey but she fell in love with it as soon as she saw it in person.

Yup. And its growing on me too. I actually wouldn't care if it was purple with pink polka dots, its still the most fun I've ever had behind the wheel.

I need to get another fun car. Last one I had was a bright yellow Corvette. I hated that color when I got it but you're right, it grows on you after awhile.

Re: New project!
Gah. Never got to the shop tonight to remove flywheel. Kids had piping band practice and wife had a meeting so I held down the fort with the littles. Against my better judgement I ordered the cal tracs. Now waiting for more parts.
I wanted to build some ladder bars (kinda like how I want to build my own headers, just because I want to do it once). But other people are smarter than me so I decided to go with parts that smarter people designed.

Cal-Tracs rock! But, you gotta keep those Hiem joints clean and lubed.

Re: New project!
Tracking says brakes are arriving tomorrow. Will be starting the re-assembly soon! Clutch and cal tracs next week though. That's ok, it'll probably take me a week or so to get the brakes done anyway.

Re: New project!
Brakes showed up yesterday so I figured I'd better get at it. Three coats on the rear end, going to do a couple more and then put it back in the car. Then install brakes and axles. Hope to have the rear back in and done by the end of the weekend but working tomorrow and apparently there's a big party in our back yard Sunday. Little miss turned 3 today!

And the rear end:

I forgot about that! She didn't know what was going on at first haha. She only gets messages from 3 or 4 people most of the time (she doesn't use her phone much). Its dead in the bottom of her purse most days.
