At the very least I'd change the fluid and filter

I'm with the rest of them, if the transmission has not been flushed by now just change the filter and replace any lost fluid. I had my suburban flushed at 130,000 miles since it had never been serviced, 2 weeks later the passing gear went out and by the time I got it into the trans shop a couple days later only 1st and 2nd worked........

wowee wow wow..... drove the truck the ONE mile down the road to Advance Auto to get the check engine light cleared and codes read- on the way back heard a metallic 'CRACK' and the service brake system light came on, and the pedal went to the floor. I got it home, in the garage and started triage. Right rear caliper piston was pushing against the rotor itself- no pad left on the inside, the outside pad was nothing more than the thin sheetmetal plate the ceramic is glued to...pieces of the caliper piston fell out of the rotor. Never seen that before- I knew the pads were so low the retaining clips were grinding into the rotors, but dayum!

oh my. How could you choose between them?!

The piston had been crushed and about 1/3 of it crumbled out of the rotor when I took it off. The driver side rear at least what was left of the pad hardware in there, but that piston was frozen in the extended position. I had to remove the caliper to hammer it back in to fit the new pads in- don't know if that one will work or not...

they took it!

pass side front had to be replaced, too. The pistons on it were frozen solid also. and when I took it off to try to lube it to coax it to move, I saw they were actually crumbling away inside the boot.

I got all four done- all new rotors, 2 new calipers, and probably should have/will have to replace the drivers rear too, but i was able to free it. The front drivers side was the only one that looked and functioned normally.

After bleeding the pedal still goes to the floor, and they still don't release. -Looks like I'm going to have to replace the master cylinder next. With the driver front brake being the only one not stuck open it makes sense that the MC is bad with all the other symptoms.

Oh yeah- does anyone have Carfax or a vin-decoder link? I'm trying to find out what this things specs and features, and the Chevy.com 'my vehicle' doesn't offer a 'build sheet' link...

I'd hit the redhead if I had to choose from that bunch.

As for the GM, roll it into the river and claim it stolen.
