Can we fix the edit feature?

Post by Wyldman » Mon Mar 05, 2012 5:00 pm

Having only one chance to fix spelling & formatting problems/mistakes is kind of draconian, especially when about half the time, it doesn't work anyway (it seems to time out rather quickly).

Little help, please?

Thank you sir! Sometimes it takes more than one take for me to get my thoughts in order and down on the keyboard.

I get the whole "stick by what you say or shut up" thing but is there another reason the moderators of a website would not want to give their member the freedom to come back and edit posts at will at any time?

I think the main reason is to preserve "conversational integrity" lol. If you make a statement and 20 people take the time to respond to it, you shouldn't be able to come back the next day and change your story. Confusing and kind of makes the whole thing pointless. Just my take.

You're take on it is well received and respected reno. I have seen that very situation play out that you describe.

Personally, I can only be most active on those forums that allow me that freedom to do so and this has absolutely nothing to do with with the competing firearm websites in KY thing. Perhaps it is unique to my situation.

Can you explain your situation? When would you need the ability to change a post hours or days after creating it?

Ok....reluctantly....X wife and her willingness to come along cutting and pasting pieces of this post here from one forum, that post there from another and take them to the local PD to try and get me into trouble. So far it has always backfired for her but it's my problem to contend with.

I literally go through on a regular basis and delete old posts I've made on any forum anywhere just in case. I mean several months old, not days or weeks old just to cover my arse.

Unique to me personally, should have kept my big mouth shut.

Proceed as planned please.

Hmmm that is definitely a unique situation, but also a legit reason if I ever heard one. Probably won't change the setting but if you want to participate here and ever needs something deleted I'm sure we could help out.

Sorry guys. You're doing a fine job here. I shall retreat my loud mouth beneath it's foreskin that rests at my neck.

And...just to be fair...any posts used against me were stalked down from reptile related forums, not firearm forums. She aint found me here yet.

Keep up the good work. Hopefully I can redeem myself with some cool firearm pics this week.
