Windows 10

Post by Toddstang » Fri Feb 01, 2019 9:56 pm

Looks like I'm going to have to update my PC to Windows 7 from XP before April.

Was wanting to see if anyone had any discounted codes or anything for Windows 7 Home.

:D

In case you're not aware support and updates for 7 end in less than a year from now.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Well that sucks.

I guess its on to 10 then.

Will still take 7 if I can get a decent price.

XP support on certain programs and games will end in April.

Tagging this to remember. I will reply later with ways you can get legal versions of win 10 for about $25. Just don't remember the name of the site.

If your computer is running XP now. Does it have the power to run windows 10.

It could be time for a new one?

I hope you aren't on the internet with XP. That's playing with fire son.

I had two machine that updated from 7 to 10 during the free upgrade period. Another I installed a copy of 7 over XP and it then updated to 10 from there.
Too bad the free upgrade period is long over.

What really sucks is that IMHO 7 is the best OS they ever came up with. It's also the last one that Gates had any involvement with due to the fact he stepped down from running MS in 2008. 7 was released the following year

Sorry, worked all day on the house and forgot to get the website info posted. All OEM keys, and all legal. Better than trying to get a hacked copy for free.

What you need to do is download Microsoft Media Creator. That program will download win 10 to a USB for setup. During the install, you type in the code and it will install the pro version.

Well I played around with a few different things and partitioned my hard drive and was able to clone Windows 7 off my other machine and so far so good.
Took all night and most of the morning but its working.

I'll do the Windows 10 update later in the year. Thanks to Rescue9 for the W10 link!

No sir. Don't do the update. Do a fresh install. Win 10 will NOT correctly update from win 7. You will have driver and hardware problems for sure

The key you bought will work for a clean install.
