Defense knife recommendation
Defense knife recommendation
To make a long story short, I got transferred to a new location at my job and I'll be working in an unsavory part of town. Can't carry a firearm at work so that's a no go. I know a knife isn't ideal for most situations but it's better than nothing if running isn't an option.
Here's the problem... I wear button up shirt with a tie so a neck knife isn't going to be easily accessible. Wearing dress shoes so a boot knife is out. Also can't have anything "on display" so no pocket clips or sheath knives. Feel sorry for me yet? And yes I'm looking for a new job.
Oddly enough this is what I'm carrying right now... hugs the bottom of my pocket and easily opened with one hand.
Only problem with the knife is it's rather thick and heavy in my pocket. I think something similar to this shape with thin metal handles would work well. I think anything over a 3" blade is going to be a little cumbersome in my pocket but I'm willing to take any suggestions.

Defense knife recommendation
I have a few but think the crkt with the auto-lok system that makes it a virtual fixed blade when deployed is nice so no fear of it closing on you. Pocket clip with it mounted high makes a knife disappear in your pocket but harder to get out fast. You have no choice it appears.

My friend has a Cold Steel Rajah II and really likes it. It sits in the pocket instead of clipping on and is made to be opened during your draw by a piece that catches on your pocket. I'm sure there are other knives with a similar opening status, but this thing looks like a miniature sword.

ka bar TDI knife. its fixed blade and has a kydex holster. It won't print like a knife in your dress pants pocket if it even prints at all. pull the whole knife out and pop the sheath off with your thumb once its out.
not too pricy either.

Re: Defense knife recommendation
Any decent knife makes a great weapon, I would personally look for a good all purpose knife and learn to use it as a weapon rather then buy some stylized ninja tactical knife. Look at the tracker Dan bloodshark for a strait blade, and check out kyle defoor to learn to use it in a modern setting.
