Nothing special about this common 40s-60s little camp hatchet. Same pattern used for BSA. Just an example of what a quality hatchet was. Going to remove rust and treat handle, then give it a good utility edge. When I have time I’ll make a vintage style sheath for it. It will make a good truck hatchet.

Cleaned the head on the wire brush, jumped the head about 3/16” and reset the wedge. MAN this handle is thirsty!

This was literally/real time 30 minutes of restore work. Wire brush, scraper, sandpaper and danish oil. It’s gonna probably take longer to put an edge on it.

Let’s see how this shakes out. I’ve never designed or made this type of sheath before. Older belt type sheath used by BSA.

Here’s the paper template in 6oz leather. Time to start riveting and stitching.

Ok boys. First time designing and making an old skool belt sheath. She ain’t no beauty queen, but she’ll make your night. Here is current progress. Fitted, riveted and snap closure. Still have to stitch and do reinforcing rivets. But time for a adult beverage and a nap.

Do you cut yourself? If not, it works.
