Re: Sawyer point 2 water filter/purfier
I use a Katadyn Mini Ceramic for camping.
Pro:
Lightweight, compact, .02 micro filters out impurities including bacteria and some viruses
Con:
Pumping takes time and effort, filter only good for 2000 gallons max under ideal conditions, mixed reviews on Amazon
Never used the Sawyer Point Two before.
Pro:
Also light, .02 micron filter, GRAVITY FED! NO PUMPING, and theoretically good for hundreds of gallons a day, a MILLION gallons over life of the unit (not sure if that means a single filter carteridge), great reviews on Amazon
Con:
Costs $25 more than the Katadyn
When my Katadyn needs a replacement filter, I think I'll buy the Sawyer instead.
