Who the hell needs 9 MREs for 72 hours?! I used to pack 1 MRE per day for a week in the field (mostly to keep weight down) and that was while humping through the woods with 150 pounds of gear on. Granted, I usually had a goodie bag full of beef jerky, MetRX bars, and the like, but still I usually only had 1 MRE per day or so.
Although, that may explain why I always came back about 10-15 pounds lighter...

i agree with the ben_p.....one MRE a day is plenty. maybe two. just get into one and pick out something sweet for the morning. eat the bread/crackers with the PB or cheese for lunch and save the main course for dinner. i've spent 30+ days in the living like this and survived like a champ. just keep drinking the water and life is good.
