The dc doesn't have an physical safety. Instead it goes into double action mode with a fairly heavy trigger pull. After firing or cocking the hammer back with your thumb it returns to single action. So you can carry it with one in the chamber and if you had to draw it you're immediately in business. The trigger pull decocked is substantial enough to be safe IMHO. I hope that explains it, someone may have a better answer.
