It is perfectly acceptable to replace worn or add new parts on most full autos that I can think of since it is usually the receiver (the serialized portion) that is on the NFA registry.

You can get anything fixed.There is someone out there that can make it right again.I know of a guy that claims he can repair an AR reciever even if it was driven over by a car! In reality,I would wonder about some of the parts that are out there now that started out as the same piece when it was made...If you know what I mean.

Like a MAC-10, a steel receiver you could have anything welded back up.
An M16/AR type receiver made of aluminum, your damage would be a whole lot more serious, but it can be fixed.

Very rare for a lower to be damaged, unless of course you have a KB. And even then the lowers survive quite often without any damaged. It's the uppers that are usually f***ed.

Yes it is legal to have a regular gunsmith to repair your machine gun.
Even transfer on a form something so you can leave it.
AR are not that easy to weld
It can be down but takes a really good TIG welder.

FWIW I'd be more concerned about ammo costs than repair costs.
That, more than anything else, keeps me from getting into the full-auto game. Fortunately, I was able to get my fill of rapid fire on Uncle Sam's dime.

Yes. But to work on full auto,there are a couple of the kits that require a M16 trip part to go in and make it run full auto.

Now that you mention that, I do remember when I ordered my conversion kit a while back there was a model for full autos.

What's the going rate on the norells now? 5-8k? Not worth it. Seems like the Mac with all the upper options is the more cost effective way to go.
