9mm SBR

SBR goes here. Have questions about trusts, gas systems, draco's, etc, ask away.

9mm SBR

Post by Niceguy » Tue Dec 29, 2015 9:55 am

Since owning my second Sub2k and playing with my current one suppressed, I'm REALLY wanting a 9mm SBR. Not sure what route to take. This is a catagory I haven't ever seen any discussion on in here. DD and I were talking about a few at Roosters Sunday now I'm really wanting one. Now I need to make my mind up on what I want so I can start saving for it.
A 10" or under Glock mag AR is very appealing on all levels and my top choice right now. Decent availability, semi-reasonably priced, cheap & available good mags that I already own.
A HK MP5 knockoff. I know nothing about these... Ones to buy, ones to avoid, the plus and negatives, nothing. I think an HK is probably out of my reach, maybe a good (if there is a good one) knockoff wouldn't be.

What are some other choices out here and what is everyone's opinions on any of these that you know anything about?

I like the idea of that. But the way the charge handle is on it, I'm not sure it could.

I vote CZ Scorpion Evo
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Do all 3 of those take mags unique to each of them? Having all 3, would you choose one over the others?

I don't like the looks of the TP-9 at all. Looks wise I like the Sig over the CZ. I love that they can be made full auto. Can you legally own either in full auto with a tax stamp?

Scorpion evo or quarter circle 10 build are my choices. The biggest downside to the QC 10 is that it is an AR platform and therefore has a buffer tube so it can't get as short as the scorpion or mpx

you can't legally own any full auto made after 1986 unless you are a manufacturer or class three dealer

I love my MP5 clone. Expensive but my most favorite toy in the safe.

I like designs that keep the magazine in the grip. Overall it may not look as cool but it keeps the whole package much shorter.

It may sound a bit crazy but SBR a glock. Given the right parts it would make a compact formatable weapon. A red dot mount an extended barrel, stock, and a drop grip.

Sig is twice the cost of Scorpion. I now have a scorpion and seeing that other thread with the MPX SBR and suppressor, makes me want that.

MPX > CZ
TP-9 is hard to compare to the others because it is completely different. Way smaller. If I had the MPX in hand, I wouldn't have bought the CZ.

TP-9 with stock out. When folded, it easily fits below your armpit. Wear a jacket and its concealed.

Watching a few YouTube reviews, all are saying the same. But, a few complain about the gas and shit blowing back at you when suppressed. That would be a HUGE dislike for me. Ergonomic look a lot better to me than the CZ also.

It does have alot of gas. Not noticeable outside but when I shot it at OR, it about choked me. I have an adapter to suppress my Evo but haven't tried it yet.

I like this idea too. A threaded 34 or 17L would make a pretty cool and handy little SBR! I'm assuming the frame would be the gun, so you could swap 9mm, .40, .357Sig with no more paperwork...

if the mpx had fit in the budget at Christmas, I would have likely had it.

What's your opinion on these over a Glock mag AR9mm?
Same question to Dave also...

Personally, I'd opt for an MPX with the brace, and screw the tax stamp.
