A Pistol lower starts out as a receiver then it's made into a pistol. It can be made from the factory like that or a person can make it that way. But once the receiver is made into a pistol it can be made into a rifle and converted back to pistol. But if a receiver is made into a rifle it can NOT be made into a pistol. So whatever a receiver is made into first is what it stays.Dave1965 wrote:Pistol lower defined as what?
What about the rock river ar that are sold and marked pistol? That's a pistol lower right?guncrank1 wrote:Come on Spydie -there are no pistol lowers only lowers-
The classification of pistol is only on final manufacturing into a handgun.
Contact Rock River. I don't believe engraving 'pistol' on the lower has any legal bearing by itself. Check to see what the paperwork says.1fastmach1 wrote:What about the rock river ar that are sold and marked pistol? That's what I said. A pistol lower starts as a reciever the gets made into a pistol. There are lots of pistol lowers. If I make a pistol and sell it. The guy who buys it takes the upper off and sells it. It's a pistol lower.guncrank1 wrote:Come on Spydie -there are no pistol lowers only lowers-

I have doublestar pistol market lowers , but i think most of that type marking was done during the dark ages of knowledge.guncrank1 wrote:Come on Spydie -there are no pistol lowers only lowers-

In my opinion that's the only way to do it. Gives you so many more options in the long run.son of liberty wrote:I have doublestar pistol market lowers , but i think most of that type marking was done during the dark ages of knowledge.guncrank1 wrote:Come on Spydie -there are no pistol lowers only lowers-

For legality , I build all my lowers with pistol barrels and buffer tubes before I take them back apart and build rifles.
