SBR

Post by 1fastmach1 » Sun Feb 23, 2014 6:02 pm

So I'm wanting to register my honey badger as a SBR but I'm not sure on how to go about it. I've heard of the nfa trust and the regular old form 1 with your name on it and so forth. I don't know which to go with because I don't know much about either. I've done a good deal of research about it but to be honest it a bit intimidating. Anyone out there that would be willing to counsel me a bit and kind of walk me through my first one? I'd be forever in your debt. Thanks.

Form 1 needed for trust or individual

Lower will need to be engraved.

I know the form 1 is needed for both. I've heard they can e tricky to fill out. I know the trust is better so to speak plus you have an e-file option. The name or the trust gets engraved. What's the benefit of the trust other than the obvious new e-file method? I'm hearing that apparently it goes through much quicker.

The trust route eliminates the fingerprints, passport type photos and Cleo sign off that is required with the individual route. That is what originally had ppl going that way. And now u can efile which is supposedly a little quicker

And with a trust, you're wife/friend/relative can take the item out without you being present as long as they are listed on the trust.

How easy is it to modify who's on the trust? I guess how easy is it to modify who's on it and what items are on it after it is setup?

I used a Trust I found online from AR15.com and then had one emailed to me from someone on this forum to compare. They are very easy to do and requires a little bit of knowledge about what you want to do with the trust.

I dont see the need to pay a lawyer. Its stupid easy.

while I am not a lawyer, I did the 199trust.com route and have had 3 approved form 1s so far

I have also amended the trust to change my state of residence without issue and the last stamp was approved no issue.
