So the suppressor bug has finally landed. With my obsession of using what I have on hand, I decided to go as inexpensive as possible. So a form 1 maglight is what I'm thinking. I understand that a one size fits all isn't as sweet as one designed specifically for a certain caliber, but I don't see the budget getting larger for another in the near future. I will be doing a wildcat trust so adding down the line will be an option.

if you need the adaptor ends for the maglight body, let me know

Good times. I have 2 form 1 cans and 2 more waiting on stamps. Once I got involved with them, they became a lot of fun. It's difficult for me since I don't have the ability to fire a few rounds, make minor adjustments, fire a few more rounds and so on since I live in Louisville. Good luck with your build.

Thanks! I need to calm down though, I have two hosts ready for a can and both are 22s. A D cell tube set up for 45 might run into issues with 22?? I need to do more research before I go forward. I don't want to put the cart before the horse like I normally do, oh wait.

I've shot my Octane 45 can on one of my .22's just to see. It was louder than my .22 cans, but still not bad.

Anybody have any personal experience with these? Everyplace I see these talked about they are highly spoken of. They take the headache out of forming the plugs apparently.

Niceguy and a few others are telling me to save up some more pennies and but a ti tube from them. Thinking a 5.6 D

Best place for parts is Diversified Machine, but they are constantly out of stock.

Check out http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_6/55_.html. This is a great source of info, as well as http://form1suppressor.boards.net. Not to take away from this forum, but there is quite a bit of knowledge on those forums regarding Form 1 cans.

Most guys will tell you that if you plan to make one or two form 1 suppressors, the Badger Ridge freeze plugs is the way to go. Especially with the Ti tube. It's a slip in fit. They are center marked really deep. If you think that you may be into building a few of these suppressors, buy the js tactical tool and form your own. Formed steel ones are a couple dollars apiece. The fp's from Napa are $.68 a piece.

So, the baffles in these home made suppressors are made from engine freeze plugs you press into a cone shape with a press tool/die thingy? Is that what I'm seeing? Pretty cool.

To clean these, just soak in a sonic cleaner, you don't try punching out plugs correct?

Pretty sure I've got a box of freeze plugs and an old mag light somewhere. Hmmm

yes I already have those solvent traps on hand...freeze plugs are what they use for baffles in conversion. Just drilling the center hole is key

Don't drill any holes until you get an approved tax stamp. Once the holes are drilled, you have suppressor parts which need a stamp. Before drilling, you possess solvent trap parts. Big difference apparently.

absolutely right, until there are holes, it is just freeze plugs.

Built a few myself, I have no need for kits

I need ideas on trust names. At first I was thinking something that would guarantee that the kids would defiantly remember I had a warped sense of humor. However this is something serious, but we hey it's my trust so whatever. Also, serial numbers, it can be anything correct? As in #PEN15 or something like #4567-1234

The name has to be stamped on the tubes so that does have an impact on the name.
