.22 Suppressor Best Bang for your Buck

Post by Rem700 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 11:41 am

So i am looking into a .22 can. What is the best bang for your buck? I will be setting up a trust and i know about the $200 tax stamp. So opinions on cans?

I will be shooting in my back yard so quite is key. I want something damn near silent. Host will more than likely be 10/22, 22/45, probably a bolt action in the mix some day.

You can build a 22 can with no machining off the shelf parts and adapters for less than $75.

Or get with Allen for $120 HTA one that's done. Not a great product but worth $120-125. It's even 5.7x28 rated. There are quite a few of us on here if you want to check one out. I have a Gemtek Alpine that's badass but triple the cost. MUUUUUUUCH lighter and seems slightly quieter. Not 5.7 rated though.

I think that's a good idea. I'll definitely have a HTA and Alpine rimfires and a Octane45 with a few 45 and 9mm adapters with me. And lots of host.

I also own a Huntertown guardian 22 and I will be the first to say DO NOT go that route. Their customer service may be the worst on earth and aluminum baffles are a PITA to clean. For a little over $300 you can pick up a silencerco spectre ii, which has stainless baffles and comes from a company that has some of the best customer service in the industry. Remember, this is a lifetime purchase so cheaping out to save $150 or so now may come back to haunt you later down the road.

I wholeheartedly 2nd this opinion. I wish I was there to let you try my .22 cans. My Spectre II has become my favorite, followed closely by my Sparrow. For the money, SiCo cans are very hard to beat.

I have the materials to form 1 a new can, but the need to do so has been lessened by my 4 existing .22 cans, all of which are exceptional performers.

I am still going to get a .30 Saker as soon as the finances permit. A 2nd .30 cal can will make me very happy.

Where does one procure the parts necessary to build a legitimate can? Most quick google searches seem to come to the "just for informational purposes only" category.

I certainly wouldn't mind a $500 total investment including the tax stamp. Esp if it comes with good CS and easier maintenance. I'll def check into SiCo
