Suppressor cleaning?
Do you guys and gals clean your cans or just shoot away? I took my Alpine apart when it didn't have many rounds through it. Not sure it would even come apart now. It's pretty nasty... I have my Octane apart now and just came out to the cleaner and just made me wonder what everyone else does.

Waiting to hear. I have been cleaning mine with Hoppes #9 and brush. And it Sucks.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
This is the first time I've cleaned any of mine. I just stuck it in ultrasonic cleaner with Dawn dish soap. Not really much cleaner. Just the loose stuff came off.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
I clean mine in a rotary tumbler (mine is a Thumbler's Tumbler) with soapy (Dawn dishwashing liquid) water and stainless steel pins. About 4 hrs and it really does help, a lot. Even my aluminum baffles come out w/o any wear.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
If your baffles are aluminum, just be sure to check them frequently to make sure the edges don't show any sign of rounding off, or thinning.
I only have one cleanable can with aluminum baffles, which happens to be my oldest can. So far, no problems with it.
Soda blasting is also very effective, but you must wear a resperator to avoid breathing any lead dust.
"The dip" is also very effective, but is very toxic after exposure to lead, and will eat (literally) aluminum. I do not recommend it.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
Be careful with the albumin baffles... they are easy to scratch.
When I first got mine, I cleaned it often... read so many things all over the web where some swear it's best to clean them and others say it's best not to...
All personal preference I suppose...
I will say this... if you plan on keeping them clean, do it often.... If you go a while between cleaning it gets harder to take them apart.... or at least my outback llD did....

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
I clean my Outback IID every 200 rounds +/_. Gemtech recommends using Gunzilla and a toothbrush. I couldn't find Gunzilla locally so I bought it on Amazon. My HTA Guardian 22 has not been cleaned yet. Recommended cleaning every 1000-2000 rounds since it has encased baffles.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
I have a few thousand through both rimfire cans. Probably low tens of thousands through the Alpine. I'm betting I won't be able to get it apart. I probably have 500 or less through Octane and a few baffles were a bit of a pain to get apart.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
Cleaning can definitely become required, depending on your firing schedule and specific suppressor, for different reasons. Our older style AAC TiTAN-QD (standard TiTAN body, not marked QD but has the QD ratchet) would not lock onto the muzzle after I don't know how many rounds of .300 WinMag. The ratcheting mechanism became completely stuck. The rifle is hardly ever fired unsuppressed. I know it has seen quite a few rounds, but not so many as a suppressed carbine would likely see between cleanings. A bit of carefully applied Break Free Powder Blast and elbow grease cleaned it up quickly.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
I use state 999 (a product my company makes) it is a solvent cleaner and degreaser. Let baffles soak and then brush with medium tooth brush.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
I cleaned my Huntertown Guardian today for the 1st time. It had about 460 rounds thru it. Factory recommends cleaning after 500 rounds. Had to tap with a wood dowel to get baffles apart. Here is how it looked before cleaning with Hoppes #9 and a toothbrush.

Re: Suppressor cleaning?
Went too long on my last cleaning and had Adayton help me get it apart. Used some citrus solvent and and a dmremel loaded with brass bore brush to really clean up the baffles. Then took a buffing pad and cleaned the rest. Can runs great. I think running it wet increases my dirt load a lot. Going to clean every 250 or so from now on running it wet
