NFA suppressor discussion goes on here. Silencers, cans, the wonderful things that make it our firearms quiet.

Question on adding items to a trust

Post by ssracer » Wed Jan 21, 2015 10:01 pm

So I'm completing paperwork for my can. I have an existing trust with my SBR on it. Do I use all the original notarized paperwork from the trust, then just add a new notarized Assignment Of Property page for the can and then add it to the non-notarized Schedule A: Property Placed In Trust form?

I assume all of the dates on the Assignment Of Property form would be the current date?

Yes the way I understand it.current date. You would probably have a hard time getting notary to sign it if it's a different date.

Didn't think you needed notary to sign trust? I may be wrong.

Mine doesn't have one for adding a item but his appears to be written in a way that it needs one.

I didn't either, at least for adding stuff, until I opened my trust and saw that page

Notary signs original trust but shouldn't need to sign or notarize assignment of property, just the trustee.

I checked with Rext since he originally supplied the trust. He confirmed that (at least with how this trust is prepared) I would print a new Assignment of Property page for the can, get it notarized, print a new Schedule A with the can added to it and then add them to the original trust and send copies.
