Illinois Democrats pull plug on gun, ammo bans

Post by scorpionmain » Thu Jan 03, 2013 3:41 pm

SPRINGFIELD — There’s not enough support in the Illinois Senate to impose tough new restrictions on semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips.

In a setback for gun-control advocates in the wake of the killings of school children in Connecticut, the Illinois Senate was poised to adjourn Thursday without voting on two pieces of legislation aimed at limiting access to certain kinds of weapons and bullets.

Although the two proposals could emerge again when the legislature reconvenes next week, the lack of action shows the General Assembly remains divided on how to balance Second Amendment issues.

A spokeswoman for Senate President John Cullerton, D-Chicago, offered no timetable for when the gun safety proposals might surface again.

Seems they can still bring it back up when they reconvene. So its not even a victory yet, they just put it off till next time.

Read on another forum Feinstein is delaying her bill because of this.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Yeah but the votes for these things dwindle down without the public fresh screaming at them.

This is good to hear. Especially in the most corrupt, anti-gun state in country.

Wish I could predict the future. Then I'd know whether I should sell ARs, mags, and ammo, then replace everything in a couple of months and keep $5K profit.

Nah. Think I'll just hold what I've got.

It'll be challenged in court, but by the time it reaches the SCOTUS there will be a much more favorable progressive majority in that body of individuals.

Gun manufactures in Illinois have already threatened to leave the area if laws limiting guns are put in place. ArmaLite owner Mark Westrom told FoxNews.com that he’s been fielding offers from at least two others states to move his operation if gun control laws in Illinois are pushed through.
Please move to Ky.

Those who don't stand up to an unlawful desecration to their second amendment rights are just as bad as those trampling on it and shame on you if you lay down and let the government subject you cattle!

If I were in the gun making business there's no way I'd be able to stand being based in a state that believes my product is evil

They may be trying a run-a-round

RED ALERT: Illinois House to take up gun bans Sunday evening
http://www.gunssavelife.com/?p=4434&utm ... ay-evening
We have it on good authority that House Speaker Michael Madigan will allow leftist Chicago Democrats an opportunity to pass the same legislative language recently “postponed” in the Illinois Senate for a lack of votes for passage.

The Illinois House will take up the measures Sunday evening at 5:00pm when they convene.

The gun-grabbing statists surely have a tentative headcount indicating they believe they can pass the measure or they wouldn’t be bringing it up for a needless embarrassing defeat.

No doubt they are hoping that if they can sneak it through the Illinois House on Sunday night when people are thinking about football or family instead of their civil rights, that perhaps the currently absent Illinois Senate members supportive of the measure will have returned in time to hold a vote to pass the measure in the Senate as well.
