No one is forcing them to buy one, but if there are suckers willing to pay that much let them.
A fool and their money are soon parted.

BLUF: I was there, staying at the Mandalay Bay. First time in Vegas.

I'm glad KAC doesn't have all the conspiracy theories flying around. If I have to hear about the "multiple shooters" again from someone that wasn't there, I'm going to flip my shit.

Basically, everyone sprinted out of there in the only two directions (forming about a 90 degree fan) that had cover- towards the casinos. They ran in each location, covered in blood, yelling about a shooter, which made people call it in at that location. So the statement "there's a shooter at New York, New York", "there's a shooter at Excalibur", "there's a shooter at [insert Casino here]" unfortunately shows how unreliable such call-ins are. The police were constantly scrambling to locations that were wrong.

If you were staying at the Mandalay Bay or the Delano, and you weren't wounded, you fell into two categories: locked in, or locked out. Two of my co-workers were locked in- SWAT tried to clear our room at 3AM, but I had the door barricaded (because early reports just said gunman in hotel). They weren't happy, but they understood. I hopped up quickly to let them in- two man teams were clearing in full battle rattle with M4s. (I swung the door wide and flattened against the wall, allowing me to easily see the same thing was happening across the hall. I don't think they managed to get the building full cleared until around 10AM, when we were finally allowed to leave to get some chow.

My other co-worker was moved (along with many other) from location to location, and finally ended up sleeping on the floor in the stadium (I believe it was the T-Mobile center).

The crazy thing is from that vantage point, you could have done the same shit with a pistol. The crowd was sooooo densely packed in there.
