The usual suspects.
The same group of dems introduces basically the same bill every time the wind changes direction hoping it sticks on the wall.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

While we strongly support the constitutional right of U.S. citizens to own firearms subject to appropriate background checks, FedEx views assault rifles and large capacity magazines as an inherent potential danger to schools, workplaces, and communities when such weapons are misused. We therefore support restricting them to the military.
The NRA is one of hundreds of organizations in our alliances/association Marketing program whose members receive discounted rates for FedEx shipping. FedEx has never set or changed rates for any of our millions of customers around the world in response to their politics, beliefs or positions on issues.
FedEx Official Statement: We Support “Assault Weapons” Ban and Magazine Capacity Limits — But Enjoy Your NRA Discount!

"The capacity to accept" opens up a ban on pretty much every semi-auto made. Strictly interpreted this could even ban Mini-14 Ranch models, and most other rifles, since they "accept" aftermarket stocks with those features. And could ban most semi-auto handguns because the front light rail on most means they could "accept" a second grip.
Heck, for that matter, strictly interpreted "the capacity to accept" a threaded barrel would ban most rifles and many hand guns since you can thread just about any barrel that sticks out pass the stock.

Sorry about the formatting.

Dick’s Sporting Goods announced Wednesday they are making major changes to their firearms policies.

The company will no longer sell semi-automatic rifles in their stores, effective immediately. High-capacity magazines will also not be sold and stores will no longer allow people under the age of 21 to purchase any firearm.

Gun Control Watch

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/201 ... &smtyp=cur

This article basically talks about how the AR-15 is really no different than the M-16s our troops carry and why they do not belong in civilian hands.

While there are some valid points made while vilifying the rifle, the second paragraph is the one I find most interesting and that they just skip right over:

Since 2007, at least 173 people have been killed in mass shootings in the United States involving AR-15s, according to a New York Times analysis. The grim list includes crimes in Newtown, Conn.; Las Vegas; San Bernardino, Calif.; and now Parkland, Fla.

173 people....over the past 10 years. 17 people a year. More people die in an average Chicago weekend than are killed each YEAR by an asshole using an AR-15 style rifle. But we must wipe this scourge from the face of the earth.

In 2011 alone there were 496 murders committed with blunt objects (hammers, bats, etc...). That's just one year. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/20 ... a-table-11

If that's anywhere close to the avg per year that would mean almost 5,000 people were murdered with blunt objects vs 496 with an AR in that same 10 year period.
Why don't the people murdered with hammers matter? Can I mount a hammer on my AR's bayonet lug?

I highly doubt that. The left considers this a small victory. We are a minority as gun owners. When it comes time to vote are you going to vote for a candidate that backs a total semi auto ban or someone who threw a bone to get the other side to stay quiet?

Raising the age to buy a rifle to 21 doesn't bother me IF they also raise the min voting age to the same age at the same time.
Too young to handle the responsibility of a rifle? Then you're also too young to handle the responsibility of voting.
