Reginald Thomas never met a gun control law he didn't like
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Try this one on for size
Specifically, the Handgun Trigger Safety Act would:

Authorize grants to develop and improve “personalized” handgun technology to increase efficacy and decrease costs;

Mandate that within five years of enactment all newly manufactured handguns must be personalized, ensuring that they can only be operated by authorized users;

Mandate that within ten years of enactment anyone selling a handgun must retrofit it with personalization technology before that sale can be completed; and

Provide reimbursement to manufacturers for the costs of retrofitting handguns through the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund.

Massachusetts: Gun Control Bill Hits Governor Baker’s Desk
https://www.nraila.org/articles/2017110 ... akers-desk
Today, the Massachusetts state House of Representatives and Senate approved the conference committee report reconciling differences between the appropriations bills that contained gun control language banning bump fire stocks and trigger cranks.  This piece of legislation, House Bill 4008, will now go to Governor Charlie Baker’s desk for approval. It is important that Governor Baker line item veto the gun measure out of the HB 4008.  Please contact Governor Baker and urge him to line item veto the gun measure provision out of HB 4008! Click the “Take Action” button below to contact them.

Under this provision, a “Bump Stock” is defined as a device for a semiautomatic firearm that increases the rate of fire achievable with such firearm by using energy from the recoil of the firearm to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger.  A “Trigger Crank” is defined as any device to be attached to a semi-automatic firearm that repeatedly activates the trigger of the firearm through the use of a lever or other part that is turned in a circular motion, but does not include any firearm initially designed and manufactured to fire through the use of a crank or lever.

The provision allows for the excessive punishment of life imprisonment, but with a minimum sentence of 18 months, for the mere possession of these accessories.

Currently, at the urging of Congress, ATF is reviewing whether its prior determinations regarding bump-fire stocks are correct.  Any legislation in this area should wait for this review to be complete so an accurate assessment of the applicable federal law is available.

You can have medical marijuana now but you have to forfeit your rights.
KITV reports that Honolulu police are doing this via letters to cardholders demanding they “surrender weapons, permits, and ammunition to HPD or to transfer ownership.”

On November 28 The Honolulu Star reported that police have been sending letters throughout the year and the one dated November 13 was signed by HPD chief Susan Ballard. It says, “Your medical marijuana use disqualifies you from ownership of firearms and ammunition.”
On August 31, 2016, Breitbart News reported that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled that a ban on gun ownership for medical marijuana users is constitutional. The decision was based on the fact that marijuana use remains illegal on the federal level, whether state-sanctioned or not. This means medical marijuana cardholders cannot pass background check form 4473 and, therefore, cannot legally purchase a firearm.

Honestly this makes sense. Pot is illegal federally so you would be lying on the 4473 form if you mark no to that question. I dont agree it should be illegal federally but at present time it is. Now at the same time the state is violating the fed law by making pot legal, so im not sure what grounds they have to enfore the firearms rules (not law) above. Also if you already own the gun then your not violating the 4473 question and so this seems stupid. My head hurts.

I'm sure Fischer is taking notes.
The City of Columbia passed an ordinance Tuesday that bans the use of bump stocks and trigger cranks.

Columbia?s ordinance, which was introduced at the Dec. 5 City Council meeting, makes it illegal to attach bump stocks or trigger cranks to any guns within the city, except by military or law enforcement personnel. It would still be legal to own those devices, so long as they are stored in separate containers from firearms.
Never mind that the discharge of rifles is already illegal within city limits this makes them "FEEL" like they're doing something.

And more bump stock news
Note: In the comments in the link below some are saying the doc was pulled. Not sure what that means yet.
Tomorrow, ATF will publish an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemakingregarding the application of the definition of machinegun to “Bump Fire” stocks and other similar devices. As many have feared, it appears that the regulatory agency is soliciting feedback as to whether bump fire stocks, binary triggers, etc., fit within the definition of machinegun.

Comments are due thirty (30) days from the date of publication in the Federal Register. Assuming that nothing goes awry with the publication tomorrow, that would mean any comment you wish to submit in opposition to this advance notice would need to be submitted by 11:59 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2018. While one might expect an extra day to be provided to place the deadline on a Monday, agency rules govern. ATF confirmed via telephone that the deadline was Sunday.

I just love the fact that before Vegas 95% of the population had never even heard of a bump stock. And most of them still don’t know that you don’t need a stock to bump fire.
