Have taxes your way

Burger King moving to Canada to escape US taxes?
Not the only reason according to this article but probably the biggest.

Have taxes your way: Why Burger King wants to become a Canadian citizen
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/won ... wer-taxes/
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Good job US govt. push more out. All of these "freebies" you hand out to more and more people need to be paid somehow and raising taxes on the few left until we break completely is your solution. Shame on you.

That would be relevant if any corporation actually *paid* that rate.

I'm all for slashing the tax rate and cutting the myriad loopholes that allow many profitable corporations to pay no taxes whatsoever.

I contacted Burger King with my opinions and this is what I got in response
Thank you for reaching out. We’re not moving, we’re just growing and
finding ways to serve you better.

As part of the recent announcement, both Burger King Corp. and Tim Hortons
will continue to operate as independent brands. We’ll just be under common
ownership. Our headquarters will remain in Miami where we were founded
more than 60 years ago and business will continue as usual at our
restaurants around the world.

The decision to create a new global QSR leader with Tim Hortons is not
tax-driven – it’s about global growth for both brands. BKC will continue
to pay all of our federal, state, and local U.S. taxes.

We’re proud of the heritage of Burger King and will maintain our
long-standing commitment to our employees, franchisees, and the local
communities we serve.

The WHOPPER isn’t going anywhere.

Sincerely,
BURGER KING® restaurants Guest Relations
