No rebuttal about that either huh? Just nit pick what I may have mistaken but the facts are something you wont argue with.
Bump stock seems like a very small ant compared to the giant dinosaur the previous president had.
I actually don’t have a huge issue with it. The requirement was that the Social Security Administration report to the Attorney General, for inclusion in the NICS, Social Security recipients who have been deemed unable to manage their own affairs due to “marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease”

There were indeed a *few* people who were unjustly caught up in this, but it was vastly overblown. The good news is that this has been fixed, so folks who are on SSI for severe mental disorders but who haven’t been involuntarily committed can now pass a NICS check.
So disabled VETS, people injured at work who were forced into SSI, and numerous other legit folks should not have been able to own a firearm?
Yea, fixed now but your Trump hate is really obvious.
I'm sure if obama had a 3rd term, you'd of voted for him again.
The Constitution is just a bunch of words to some people.
Did you actually read what I wrote? People with physical injuries were not reported to NICS--only those who were adjudicated as being incapable of handling their own affairs.

(Edited to add: For what it's worth, I spoke out against that particular action at the time, not because I was opposed to it in general principle, but the devil was in the details. There were people who were unjustly denied their rights as a result. Similarly, I agreed with the sentiment that doctors have no place asking patients about gun ownership, as that is outside their lane. Nevertheless, the way some states approached fixing it--namely, trampling on the First Amendment--was dead wrong.)

It's true that I can't stand Trump, just as I can't stand Hillary. They are both narcissistic shitheads who believe rules don't apply to them. I think I've said this many times previously.

I didn't vote for Obama's second term.

As to your final point, I agree wholeheartedly. Most folks will support "their guy" regardless of what he does. For example, President Trump just wiped his feet on the Constitution, yet we have guys on gun forums blowing smoke about Obama and Hillary, neither of which are relevant to the current discussion.

What Donald J. Trump just did was as wrong as two boys fucking, yet the sheep give not a shit.

I am sick and fucking tired of those who equate gun rights advocacy with the Republican Party. The Republicans will screw you over just as quickly as the Democrats; the only difference is the Democrats are up front about it.
You answered your own question there.
And taking away rights anyway, any how still applies to that shit law with SSI before Trump nixed it.
BTW, who do you think determined who was capable and who was incapable? Sure as Hell wasnt me or you. Let the government decide, they're never wrong.
Also I have nothing against gays either, so there that.

Meanwhile in Virginia

Smelling Blood: Virginia Democratic Governor Readies New Anti-Gun Package
https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa ... e-n2538536
Flanked by fellow Democrats from the House of Delegates and state Senate, Northam rolled out a package of bills Friday that would require universal background checks for firearms purchases, ban assault weapons and resurrect individuals’ purchase limits to one handgun per month, among other proposals.

[…]

They include:

• The “Extreme Risk Protective Order,” sponsored by Del. Richard C. “Rip” Sullivan Jr. (D-Fairfax) and Sen. George L. Barker (D-Alexandria), which would allow a court to temporarily prohibit someone from access to his firearms if the person has been found to pose a danger to himself or others. In response to concerns raised by Republicans last year that such power could be misused, the proposal specifies that any removal order would have to be brought by law enforcement and approved by a judge or magistrate.

• A bill requiring background checks on all gun sales, including private sales at gun shows or online. The measure is sponsored by Del. Kenneth R. Plum (D-Fairfax) and Sen. L. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth).

• A revival of Virginia’s one-handgun-a-month law, which had been in effect for nearly 20 years when it was repealed in 2012. Sponsored by Del. Jeion A. Ward (D-Hampton) and Sen. Mamie E. Locke (D-Hampton), the measure would “prevent people from stockpiling firearms and transporting them for sale in other states,” Northam’s office said.

[…]

Del. Kathy Tran (D-Fairfax) and Sen. Adam P. Ebbin (D-Alexandria) are also sponsoring a ban on assault weapons, defining them as any firearm with a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds of ammunition.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Trying to find the actual bill but either my google fu is weak this morning or they're hiding it so far.
Curious to know what the 205 banned by name firearms are.

Last year we saw tens of thousands of students take to the streets to demand action to stop mass shootings and stem the epidemic of gun violence that plagues our communities. This generation has grown up with active-shooter drills, hiding under their desks. #EnoughIsEnough

— Sen Dianne Feinstein (@SenFeinstein) January 9, 2019

Americans across the nation are asking Congress to reinstate the federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. If we’re going to put a stop to mass shootings and protect our children, we need to get these weapons of war off our streets.

— Sen Dianne Feinstein (@SenFeinstein) January 9, 2019

That’s why I’m proud to introduce the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019. This bill bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name.

— Sen Dianne Feinstein (@SenFeinstein) January 9, 2019

It also bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock.

— Sen Dianne Feinstein (@SenFeinstein) January 9, 2019
Senators Introduce Assault Weapons Ban
Jan 09 2019

Washington—Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today led a group of senators in introducing the Assault Weapons Ban of 2019, an updated bill to ban the sale, transfer, manufacture and importation of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines.

In addition to Feinstein, Murphy and Blumenthal, cosponsors of the bill include Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Bob Casey (D-Pa.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Mark Warner (D-Va.).

“Last year we saw tens of thousands of students nationwide take to the streets to demand action to stop mass shootings and stem the epidemic of gun violence that plagues our communities. Our youngest generation has grown up with active-shooter drills, hiding under their desks—and now they’re saying enough is enough,” said Senator Dianne Feinstein. “Americans across the nation are asking Congress to reinstate the federal ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. If we’re going to put a stop to mass shootings and protect our children, we need to get these weapons of war off our streets.”

“Military-style assault rifles are the weapons of choice for mass murderers. There’s just no reason why these guns, which were designed to kill as many people as quickly as possible, are sold to the public,” said Senator Chris Murphy. “This past year, we’ve seen Americans rise up and demand Congress change our gun laws. Banning assault weapons would save lives, and I’m proud to join Senator Feinstein in introducing this bill.”

“Assault weapons and high-capacity magazines are deadly and dangerous weapons of war that belong on battlefields—not our streets. They have no purpose for self-defense or hunting, and no business being in our schools, churches and malls,” said Senator Richard Blumenthal. “By passing this legislation, Congress can honor the memory of the beautiful lives cut short by military-style assault weapons in Newtown, Parkland, Las Vegas, San Bernardino and far too many other American cities. This is the year for my colleagues to turn our rhetoric into reality and finally end America’s gun violence epidemic.”

Key provisions:

Bans the sale, manufacture, transfer and importation of 205 military-style assault weapons by name. Owners may keep existing weapons.
Bans any assault weapon that accepts a detachable ammunition magazine and has one or more military characteristics including a pistol grip, a forward grip, a barrel shroud, a threaded barrel or a folding or telescoping stock. Owners may keep existing weapons.
Bans magazines and other ammunition feeding devices that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, which allow shooters to quickly fire many rounds without needing to reload. Owners may keep existing magazines.

Exemptions to bill:

The bill exempts by name more than 2,200 guns for hunting, household defense or recreational purposes.
The bill includes a grandfather clause that exempts all weapons lawfully possessed at the date of enactment.

Other provisions:

Requires a background check on any future sale, trade or gifting of an assault weapon covered by the bill.
Requires that grandfathered assault weapons are stored using a secure gun storage or safety device like a trigger lock.
Prohibits the transfer of high-capacity ammunition magazines.
Bans bump-fire stocks and other devices that allow semi-automatic weapons to fire at fully automatic rates.

Updates to Assault Weapons Ban of 2017:

Bans stocks that are “otherwise foldable or adjustable in a manner that operates to reduce the length, size, or any other dimension, or otherwise enhances the concealability of a firearm.”
Bans assault pistols that weigh 50 or more ounces when unloaded, a policy included in the original 1994 ban.
Bans assault pistol stabilizing braces that transform assault pistols into assault rifles by allowing the shooter to shoulder the weapon and fire more accurately.
Bans Thordsen-type grips and stocks that are designed to evade a ban on assault weapons.

Mass shootings that took place last year using military-style assault rifles:

Las Vegas, Nev. (October 2018): In the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, a gunman opened fire on concertgoers in Las Vegas, killing 58 people and injuring 422 others. The gunman used multiple AR-15 style assault rifles fitted with bump-fire stocks.
Sutherland Springs, Texas (October 2018): A gunman entered a church killing 26 parishioners and injuring 20 others. His weapon was an AR-15 style assault rifle.
Parkland, Fla. (February 2018): A student at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School opened fire on his classmates and teachers, killing 17 and injuring 17 more.

May be the same 205 as the last version but would like confirmation.

Someone should shoot them in the ass with a muzzy tipped arrow. Then they'll try to ban bows too. Idiots.

And in case some didn't catch it the bill flat out bans selling and/or transferring any of the above, period, no inheritance, nothing. In other words its yours until you die then it become property of the govt which would result in most semi autos being removed from America society in pretty much one generation. Of course that's until they decide (there was murder in Chicago! shock! cue the children!) this wasn't enough and they pass the confiscation bill a couple of years later

Bans all "large" capacity "ammunition feeding devices" whether it is detachable or fixed.
"large" capacity is defined as anything over 5 rounds. I'm getting the impression this is not limited to semi-autos so there goes even your 6 shooter revolvers.
Also you could not buy or otherwise receive more than 20 rounds of ammo a/month and would be required to under go a background check whenever you receive such said ammo.

I foresee a lot of border crossing and black market ammunition sales in Oregon's future.

Meanwhile in Washington State
Washington State is pushing hard to claim the title of the most anti-gun state in the nation. California, New York and Massachusetts provide some stiff competition for the crown, but the Evergreen State is coming up fast on the outside.

Their latest move to make life difficult for the state’s gun owners is to declare that the National Rifle Association’s Carry Guard insurance product violates state insurance laws and shut it down.

From the Spokesman-Review:

Dubbed “murder insurance” by some gun control advocacy groups nationally, the policies became available in April 2017 through a website jointly run by the gun rights organization and insurance underwriting firms based in Kansas and Pennsylvania. Washington State Insurance Commissioner Mike Kriedler said in a news release Tuesday he would seek $177,000 in fines from the two companies and declared the plans in violation of state law.

“The policies sold are deceptive and dishonest,” Kriedler said in a statement announcing his decision. “I would be remiss as the state’s insurance regulator if I didn’t shut them down.”

In stopping the NRA from selling Carry Guard insurance, Washington follows the example of New York, which terminated Carry Guard in the state following the Parkland shooting. Governor Soprano and the state insurance commissioner also pressured the program’s underwriters to drop the NRA, prompting the gun rights org to sue the don governor and the state.

With the left coast heading more left, the song Meet Me in Montana starts to have a whole new meaning
"The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or the state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."

A little something from MK land
As CTV News reports, Trudeau was speaking to Montreal radio station 98.5 FM Thursday when he again suggested he is prepared to legislate a full ban. Canada already has some of the toughest gun control legislation in the world and very few of its citizens legally own handguns.

Standard Liberal Party line. They've been saying it since I was born. But the current gov't has been doing some sneaky stuff with laws the last couple years, it is actually cause for concern. Which is why some Canadians are working on covering themselves. Not me though, I trust him to make the right choice for us. He's got great hair!

Seriously though, its weird how he never addresses the populations of rural or Western Canada when he wants some support on one of his platforms. Unless its in British Columbia. Left coast thinking is the same from San Diego all the way to just short of Alaska.
