Failure/Non-Failure
I got to looking at the kuksa project that I abandoned last week and thought I would give another try.
After a nice day in the yard chunking and chipping away, this is how it turned out. Free form design with just axe and knives.

Looks like an Assyrian Wife Beater
Way better than I could have done.
Way better than I could have done.
There are criminals among us who are both homicidal and incorrigible. Their parents took a shot at civilizing them and failed. Their school teachers took a shot at them and failed. The odds are overwhelming that government welfare programs and penal institutions took a shot at them and failed. If it ever becomes your turn to take a shot at them, don’t fail.

Re: Failure/Non-Failure
Thanks guys. I have the first coat of epoxy on the outside to try and plug the holes and keep the knot in place. Tomorrow it will get a light sanding and then I figure out what for a finish.

Ok, "abandoned project" kuksa done! Turned out smaller than I thought, only holds 3.5oz.
Now on to the mate half of the knotty lump. This one holds 6oz.

Alrighty then, here we go again. Had a real productive day down in the shop. Here is the mate to the abandoned project, I call it the palmer. I have to do the finish shaping and sanding as well as a finish.

Here is probably the last one Ill make for a while. This half has more red tones than the other, Nemette says the back looks like starry night.
