Finally got my lift installed.

Post by drifter0069 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 6:54 pm

Wanted something a little different and versatile for my 1996 chevy extended cab pickup. Was tired of getting stuck everywhere. I picked up a rough country 6" suspension lift and a set of BF Goodrich 315-75-r16 mud terrain km2's. Just got it done today. Im pretty psyched. Here are a few pics.
Before:

Why I did the lift........

suspension stripped off frame
Image

had to cut off bump stop and modify shock bracket

my helper painting everything
Image

lift brackets and cross-members installed

big azz steering centerlink

suspension reinstalled on lift brackets

New tires

craigslist special rims im painting black

Here is the finished product

Along with the lift, i had my transmission rebuilt by a buddy of mine. Had him install heavy duty clutches and steels and a heavy duty sunshell called "the beast".

Last year i installed a crate vortec 350ci and rebuilt the rear differential with an Eaton Positrac unit.

Still need to drop it off at the exhaust shop and have the cross pipe dropped enough to allow for the front drive shaft then install the skid plates.

It was fairly easy, but would have been a breeze with air tools. Did everything the Amish way, hand tools and no lift. I plan on getting a power tuner for the computer to boost the power a little.

now all you should do is level the front with the back. It makes it look even taller, thats what I had to do with my dodge. But it does look really good!

It's really not that big of a slope, it's my driveway. Should call it a "dive" way lol. It has a very dramatic grade towards the garage. I did make the rear about an inch and a half taller so it drops when I load my toolbox and spare tire. If it doesn't level out, I may have to get the torsion keys to lift the front even.
