Traditional Kayak Spoon (pocket spoon)

Post by nemo » Thu Jul 08, 2021 9:17 pm

First successful spoon in a while. Traditional camp pocket spoon in cherry with tool finish. That’s no saws or sanding, just the finish left by a SHARP knife treated with BLO/wax mixture.

Oak is a ring porous wood, large open grain and NOT good for spoons. But I can do this with barrel heads……

I have smaller scraps. My Barrel heads are all not good enough for reuse thus why I got them as smoking wood.
