Need a new Jacket/coat

So now that I have gotten to about where I want to be, I have started to buy clothing that fits me. I need a new jacket for the up coming cold season. My Columbia is a great parka, but I bought it to cover the hubba chubba I was. I'm wanting something a bit different also, but nothing that screams tactical. I ran across one of these locally and it caught my eye. I don't know what's new on the market either though. The price was around $125, I think I can talk him down. Ideas? I don't want to get all coldey woldey.

I figured I'd get a few laughs out of ya with some well placed words. What are YOU wearing rocking, looking at a new outerwear, or thinking of getting something yourself? I want something I can wear out on winter hikes, durable as I can not afford multiple jackets.

Yeah I wish I had your height. Anything that would be a waist jacket for you would be a trench coat for me! Those Rothco jackets are durable and decently priced?

I've wore it for 2 years now and havent had any issues with it. Seems to be pretty durable to me, I'm not much on the built in "pistol" pocket as it doesnt hold your pistol all the good but it is warm enough for me and easy to wash/care for....

As for pricing they are not bad, I sell them on ebay for $76.99 & up depending on the size.

They have 2 different models too, like mine has the 100% cotton outer shell, the other is a lighter 100% polyester with fleece inner (I dont carry those yet)

Well... price range? Hard shell? Soft shell? 40°>?

All I got was non-tacticool? Out of your post, so you might want be more specific in your question for recommendations?

A few brand recommendations to start, then go from there...

Columbia = Cheapest route for decent quality
5.11 = Decent price, Decent quality, various levels of Tacticool
North Face = More expensive for decent quality
Arc'teryx = Expensive, but great quality
Triple Aught Design (TAD) = Expensive, Greater Quality, with various levels of tacticool to straight greyman

Hahaha! I want to try to steer away from the I just go off a special ops look. It's fun, but, hell it is fun as shit. Price ceiling will be two dead Presidents. That's what I can afford and keep myself in class.

So we taking $2 or $200.... both equal 2 dead Presidents.

Also, you still didn't answer any of the above questions in regards to specifics.

Touche'

My point was more in reference to his vague answer to what his price range was...

Hardshell if possible. I'd like something I can use hiking as well as around town. The option that the 5.11 Jacket has with sidearm accessibility is a nice feature.
